Although snow is becoming rarer in the lowlands, that doesn’t mean your visit to Bled can’t still feel like a winter fairytale. From Bled, you can head to higher elevations where snow is more likely. There, you’ll find scenic winter trails, fresh mountain air, and stunning views that complete the winter paradise.
For nature lovers: Scenic winter walks and mountain views
The high mountains can be dangerous in winter, but there are also safe walking trails that offer stunning views of snow-covered trees, the surrounding Julian Alps, and the glittering snow. One of our favorites is the hike to Planina Zajamniki, starting from Rudno Polje in Pokljuka. This trail is perfect for both adults and children.
Would you prefer to spend your time exploring the beauty of Bled? Lake Bled takes on a whole new charm during the colder months – soft mists drift over its crystal-clear surface, and the serene silence of nature creates a perfect sense of calm. With a hot chocolate or tea in hand, enjoy a stroll around the lake and soak in the peaceful winter scenery.
Sledding in Bled: A thrilling winter adventure in the snow
Awaken your inner child and spend the day sledding! If you’re heading to nearby Bohinj, don’t miss the chance to try Slovenia’s longest toboggan run – starting at the popular Vogar and stretching over 6 kilometers. If you’re traveling toward Kranjska Gora, we recommend the toboggan run in Martuljek or an unforgettable ride down the famous run in Tamar.
For a more family-friendly experience, there are also great toboggan runs for kids at Vogel (in the children’s park near the swing exit) and Pokljuka (next to the Pokljuka Family Centre ski slopes).

In Bled, you’ll likely notice the Straža ski resort, which has been closed for a few years due to a lack of snow – but that doesn’t mean you can’t spice up your Bled getaway with a real skiing adventure.
Just a short distance away is Vogel, where you’ll find a variety of ski runs set against a stunning backdrop of mountain peaks, offering breathtaking views with every descent.
For those who prefer smaller slopes and enjoy “carving” on gentler terrain, Pokljuka offers three smaller ski slopes that are perfect for beginners and families:
- Šport Ski Lift (near the Šport Hotel),
- Jelka Ski Lift (by the Jelka Guesthouse),
- The ski lift under Viševnik in Rudno Polje.
A half-hour drive from Bled will take you to the alpine resort of Kranjska Gora, offering a wide range of ski runs.
